The daughter (Lisa) of Cora's daycare provider (Linda) got married a few weeks ago (to a man also named Ryan), and apparently the topic has come up at daycare. This morning the following conversation ensued:
Cora: Last week Linda and Lisa and Ryan got married
Me: They did?
Cora: Yes, and then they 'schanged kisses
Me: Yup, that's what you do when you get married. You give each other kisses.
Cora: Mommy when we get married, we'll do kisses like this (gave me a smooch)
*pauses for a second, lays back and starts to pick her nose*
Cora: Then we'll pick our noses, ok?
Me: Sounds like marriage to me!
My kids seem to indeed say the darnedest things. I would often post these as Facebook statuses but realized that I should be doing something to save these for later. You know, so I can totally embarrass them in their teen years. I hope you enjoy these, but if not... I know I sure will!

This morning Daddy decided to create a new tradition. He decided he'd go and get doughnuts for breakfast for his girls. He told Cora what he was doing and that he'd back soon. As soon as he walked back in the door she exclaimed:
Cora: Daddy has no-nuts!!!!
Mommy about fell over laughing.

This was while driving home today after discussing Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore.
Cora: I don't like donkeys
Me (to Ryan): Apparently our daughter is a Republican
Ryan (to Cora): Do you like Elephants?
Cora: Yeah, but sometimes they can poop on you.
Sounds about right.

While we have a 3-stall garage, our driveway narrows to a "Y" about 10 feet from the street (a very odd and much hated neighborhood covenant). Ryan does not love it when I accidentally go onto the grass when trying to get into my spot - the first stall on the right (which necessitates some fancy dancing with a full size SUV). Upon coming home last night, our visiting relatives had parked in the driveway, so to get to my garage I had to drive off onto the grass much to Ryan's dismay. So last night as I rocked with a sleepy Cora, this is what I got:
Cora: Mommy you were naughty and drove on the grasses.
Me: Well Daddy was just teasing when he said mommy was naughty.
Cora: But you're not supposed to drive on the grasses.
Me: (sigh) Yes, that's true, you're right. I should not drive on the grasses and I told Daddy I was sorry.
Cora: And he said "Its ok accidents happen?"
Me: Something like that, yes.
Cora: And you'll never do it again, right mommy?
Me: I'll never do it again.
Cora: You promise?
Me: I promise.
Cora: Is that the truth mommy?
Me: That's the truth.
Cora: Got it. Ok mommy.
Cora: Mommy you were naughty and drove on the grasses.

Cora: Well Mommy, what are you doing here?
Me: I lived here last I checked!

We're doing the new baby's nursery in a Paris theme. Those of you that know me know its long been my dream to visit. Cora and I were sitting in the new baby's room this weekend and she pointed to some wooden block letters spelling out the city of lights:
Cora: What dat say mommy?
Me: That says Paris
Cora: What a Paris for?
Me: Paris is a beautiful city we'll visit someday.
Cora: (excited) Can we go now mommy?
Me: No, its very, very far away. We'd have to get on an airplane and fly for a long time to get to Paris. We'll have to plan a trip to Paris someday but we won't be able to go anytime really soon, ok?
Cora: (sigh) Mommy, we're not never gonna get to go to Paris.
Me: I know how you feel honey.

Sometimes not all memorable conversations are happy ones. The "paci fairy" came to our house this past Friday. We'd been doing really well understanding that the fairy took Cora's paci's to a new little baby who didn't have any and left her Bibs (a stuffed kitty cat) and Jazzy (a pink stuffed pony with a sparkly halter) instead. But, on this, the 4th night, the reality sunk in when Daddy went to kiss a little girl goodnight.
Cora: Daddy, I wanna go home
Ryan: Honey you are home.
Cora: No I mean home, home.
Ryan: Honey this is home, home. This is where we live.
Cora: Can I have a drink?
Ryan: Honey you already had your bedtime drink with mommy. Its time for bed.
Cora: (getting teary eyed) I want my paci
Ryan: Oh but honey the paci fairy took all our pacis remember? And she left your really cool kitty and horsie.
Cora: I don't want them. I want the fairy to come take them back and bring me my paci.
Ryan: But you're a big girl now and you're so very good at being a big girl!
Cora: (tears) I don't want to be a big girl daddy.
